Candles for Table Center Pieces

I made candle holders as center pieces for the reception tables.  There will be two candles per table.  The cost was $60 for all the materials to make 36 candle holders.  Included in the $60 was a bulk bag of 100 tea light candles.

The materials used were:

36 Mason Jars (the more design on the jars, the better they look)
Plaid Ribbon (Four Rolls of 9 ft. Ribbon)
2 bags of Raffia

All I did was twist some organza with a piece of ribbon and then tied a bow around the mason jars.  It looks very fall like and elegant.

The Guest Book Pen

I crafted the guest book pen for with fall leaves and green tape.

1 bunch of fake fall leaves
1 roll of green floral/craft tape
1 ballpoint pen

Pull the pen insert out of the ballpoint pen.  Cut a leaf off the bunch of fall leaves, be sure to leave a small stem.  Place the leave on the pen and wrap the green tape around the stem and the pen.  Continue to place leaves and wrap the pen until you have the desired amount.  Quick, easy and "glueless".  Just the way I like it.

The Dragon Heart

When I asked my fiancé  if he wanted a large heart behind the head table with our names on it, he winced at the idea.  However, I liked the idea of having this tacky tradition as part of our decorations.  What's the first step in a marriage?  Compromise.  I suggested that if the big heart wasn't tacky, but instead a beautiful image painted by me, would that be okay.  He agreed.

On the internet, I found a wonderful design of two dragons forming a heart.  I painted the dragons on a large piece of Bristol Board and then painted our names in the middle.  To add a little zest, I burned the edges of the bristol board.  All I needed was:

Bristol board (remember to grab some extra for practice)
Water colour or Acrylic Paints
Paint Brushes
Thumbnail of Design

The Wedding Cake

The Wedding cake will be a simple three tier cake with basic white icing.  The three round cakes will be drenched with berries and fruit of the autumn season.

I made the wedding cake topper.  The total cost was $30 cdn for all the supplies:

Two miniature stuffed bears
Piece of Tartan Ribbon (maybe three inches)
1 roll of White Ribbon
1 Small woven basket
1 bag of Raffia
1 package of Miniature Plastic apples
2 or three Miniature Silk roses (in uncut bunches)

See Cake Page for more details

The Bears sit in the basket (on top of the stuffing).  They are dressed like the bride and groom with the ribbon.  The apples are laid out creating the look of a full basket of apples.  The roses adorn the rim of the basket.  Final decoration is white ribbon around the handle of the basket.

Ladies and Gentlemen Rooms' Baskets

I had a basket in each of the lady's room and the gentleman's room.  The Gentlemen's had mints, Tums, Toothpicks, Advil and some candles.

The ladies had some mints, Tums, Toothpicks, Advil, candles and  feminine items.

Rose Pedals

Rose Pedals are a great addition to add to the Guest Book table and the cake table.  Its best to start early in the Spring for this.  I have two small rose bushes and as the roses bloomed and finally began to wilt, I cut them and dried the pedals inside.  A little spritz of hair spray will help to keep the pedals from curling too much.  Over the course of the summer I have collected enough pedals of various colours to use as decorations for the reception.

The rest of the decorations simply consist of fall leaves, pumpkins and other fall materials.  These will be scattered throughout the reception hall to give the lodge a fall look.
